With Mercury and Venus retrograde and Pluto challenging the Full Moon, what are we ready to release—both collectively and individually.

There are moments when we sense that something major is shifting, even before we can clearly name what comes next. Old structures, old ways of relating, thinking and finding security begin to feel uncomfortable. Questions we have put aside return. The familiar may still be there, but our relationship with it is changing. The Taurus Full Moon on 26 October offers a powerful astrological threshold for this time of change. With the Sun in Scorpio, Mercury and Venus retrograde, and Pluto forming a tight square to both the Sun and Moon, the themes of security, trust, power and transformation come into focus. How do we remain rooted while allowing ourselves and the world to change?

What truly makes us feel safe?

Taurus brings our attention to the tangible foundations of life: our body, home, food, resources, money, relationships with the natural world, and the things we value. Scorpio, the sign of death and rebirth invites us beneath the surface. It asks us to look honestly at attachment, vulnerability, shared resources and the fears that can shape our choices. Together, these signs offer a question worth sitting with: Am I holding on because something genuinely sustains me—or because I am afraid of who I might be without it? This could relate to a relationship, a habit, a financial expectation, or an identity we have outgrown. We don’t need to force an answer. Sometimes the first step is simply acknowledging what we already feel.

Pluto: meeting the places where we grip

In astrology, Pluto is associated with deep transformation and our relationship with power. Its square to this Full Moon can be read as a symbol of tension between our desire for stability and the need for meaningful change. Personally, this may be a useful time to notice where we become controlling, defensive or caught in an all-or-nothing response. Collectively, the collective may question ild structures, authority, accountability, financial systems and whose interests those  systems serve. In my latest video, I explore these themes alongside my reflections on world events and concerns about digital and financial security. Our responsibility is to stay grounded and discerning: check what we hear, leave room for uncertainty, and notice when a story pulls us away from our centre.

Mercury and Venus retrograde: listen again

Mercury’s retrograde in Scorpio offers an invitation to revisit conversations and question assumptions. Something unresolved may deserve a more thoughtful look. Before responding, we can ask: What do I know? What am I assuming? What needs to be clarified? Venus, the ruler of Taurus, is also retrograde and returns to Libra on 25 October. Her symbolism brings relationships, values, money and reciprocity into the conversation. Where are we giving beyond our capacity? Where have we confused being needed with being valued? Are our commitments making room for mutual respect? These are opportunities for greater honesty and more conscious choices.

Let the body bring you home

For all the intensity associated with this Full Moon, Taurus also reminds us of the simple things that sustain us. A nourishing meal. Time outdoors. Enough rest. A conversation with someone we trust. A few gentle minutes of TaiQi or QiGong. We can pause the stream of information long enough to feel our feet and reconnect with the life immediately around us. Remaining centred allows us to care without becoming consumed. Compassion and clear boundaries can exist together. As we approach this threshold, perhaps the invitation is to loosen our grip, strengthen our foundations and take the next step with awareness. We may not know everything that comes next. We can still choose how we meet it.
